Pandora Sells KXMZ

RAPID CITY, SD – The high profile story of music streaming service Pandora Internet Radio owning an actual radio station has ended, as the company has sold KXMZ-FM to Haugo Broadcasting, Inc. for $300,000 after two years of ownership.

The purchase of KXMZ, known on-air as “Hits 102.7” which serves the Rapid City Market, was a move by Pandora Media to secure lower royalty rates for its online streaming portal.

The sales puts KXMZ back in the hands of a local broadcast group, as Haugo Broadcasting’s Rapid City portfolio includes outlets: KSQY-FM 95.1, KIQK-FM, and KTOQ-AM 1340 and translator K289AI-FM 105.7.
