Veteran Sportscaster Scott Miller Dies

FARGO, ND — Scott Miller, the Fargo broadcaster who was the play-by-play voice of the North Dakota State football dynasty, died of cancer February 25th. He was 57.

Miller was also the voice of NDSU men’s and women’s basketball and the Fargo Redhawks of the American Association, one of the rivals of the St. Paul Saints.If you ever were driving in western Minnesota or most of North Dakota, and heard a play-by-play voice call out, “My, oh, my!” that was Miller.

Miller was the Montana Sportscaster of the Year during a three-year stop as Montana State’s play-by-play voice, and he also called games for Idaho, Eastern Washington and Pacific Lutheran before spending four years at the University of North Dakota from 1992 to 1995.

He was a 2004 recipient of the North Central Conference Ed Kolpack Media Award in recognition of his contributions to the conference, and was the 2010 North Dakota Sportscaster of the Year.

Funeral arrangements are set for long-time sportscaster Scott Miller. Visitation is planned for Tuesday, March 1 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. The funeral is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, also at First Lutheran Church. The church is located at 619 Broadway North.
