Schurz Cleared to Purchase KOTA-TV

scRAPID CITY, SD — The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the sale of KOTA-TV and KDUH-TV from Duhamel Broadcasting Enterprises to Schurz Communications, Inc. Schurz will take over operations on April 28th of the Rapid City ABC TV affiliate known as ” KOTA Territory TV” in the Black Hills market.

The Duhamel family has owned KOTA-TV since the station signed on in 1955, and will continue to operate several radio stations. In addition, Schurz Communications already operates several local radio stations in the Rapid City area under the name New Rushmore Radio, in which the FCC has given the company sixty days to spinoff two of those outlets.

New Rushmore Radio currently operates KBHB-AM, KKLS-FM, KRCS-FM, KKMK-FM, KOUT-FM, and KFXS-FM serving the Rapid City metroplitan area, while Duhamel owns KOTA-AM, KQRQ-FM, KZZI-FM, KDDX-FM, and KZLK-FM.
